A map made of wings.
An imagined moth opens into a field of fine parallel marks. The wings share a structure without becoming mechanically identical, and the darkest passages sit close to lighter areas so the outline remains clear. The drawing borrows the patient looking of an entomological plate, not a particular species or another artist’s design. Its subject is texture: scales, edges, tiny changes of direction. The small surrounding marks create distance around the central form without giving it a fixed symbolic meaning.

This is an intentional crop of the same drawing. Compare its dense areas with the open paper. That relationship is the starting point for the composition.
